As a member of Sebastian United Methodist Church, I am concerned about the attitude taken by our bishop's office concerning recognizing the wants of members of congregations. There are times when the wishes of a few seem to take precedence over the rest of the congregation, resulting in the pastor being appointed to another church, much to the dismay of a majority of the members of the congregation. How can you expect to convince young men that The United Methodist Church is a place they should even think about serving? If a pastor can spend many years of his ministry building and nurturing a congregation and developing ministry, then be appointed to another congregation because of the wishes of a few, why would anyone want to waste his time?
