Wallis calls for return to Christian values [Oct. 22, 2010 {1231} | By Suzanne McGovern]

The article by Jim Wallis made some very good points most of which I agree  with.

The Methodist church continues to have a problem that the members are beginning to become aware of. There is too much money and time spent on things like Social Justice. Better known as redistribution of wealth. The church is so involved in issues like amnesty for illegal immigrants, where ever they come from, the whole going  green issue, which is flawed with studies from scientists that have manipulated the numbers to bring about the result they want. National health care, government taxation to be adequate to provide everyone with  housing, food, education and what ever else these political progressives have on their agenda. The Methodist church supports abortion but is against the death penalty, how does that make sense.

The God given assets we have should be used to bring people to Jesus Christ not for political purposes. People want greater freedom and more personal responsibility not more government and more taxation to provide for those unwilling to take responsibility for themselves.

We should provide for  those who are unable to take care of themselves that is what God expects us to do but Jesus taught personal responsibility not milking the system.

The current election environment demonstrates the thoughts of  the people. You are also seeing what the members of our church think by 50,000 leaving the Methodist church. The progressives have taken  over the government as well as the Methodist church and we the people are being left out. The leaders of the church like the Board of Governors are going their own way!

It is hard to believe how far off track we have gone!  We need some common sense leaders to get the  Methodist train wreck back on the right track. The church is the place I have always counted and be trusted to provide a place of peace and love  and not based on pushing political agendas. As I was growing up it was the place of the church to provide for those in need and now that is being taken over by the government and Christ is not even in the background of  these efforts.
