I believe you need to look into the corruption in Haiti before very much else is done. Where does all of the money we send them go? Why has the president of that country been allowed to take most of the billions that we have already sent to that country? No matter what we spend, nothing is ever better for the people. They must be enabled to stand up for themselves and fight the corruption themselves for a better government. Their pier needs to be fixed first, or they will not be able to have trade. Some times the more you help someone, the more reliant they are for help, instead of learning to stand on their own two feet. I believe the Bible says to teach a man how to fish, then he will be able to feed his own family. I am very generous, but sometimes we just help so much that we continue to cripple them. I've learned that with my own children the hard way, and they are totally responsible adults today. Some will always need help, but most healthy adults can do it with the right encouragement and tools, and not always handouts.
