Several years ago the conference’s Office of Congregational Transformation (OCT) and former Orlando District transformation team introduced churches to Natural Church Development (NCD), a process that helps churches improve and maintain their health.
Since then, leaders have discovered not all churches are at a level of health that makes them ready to begin that process, leaving many wanting to make changes, but without the resources to do it.
Now, two new systems are being implemented specifically to help those congregations, giving them new hope and a chance at new life. full story>

LAKELAND — The Rev. Mullens Constant has fond memories of his Haitian homeland.
Constant, who is serving at Hallandale Haitian Mission in Hallandale Beach, came to the United States from Haiti seven years ago. He said he has deep feelings for his beloved and beleaguered country and is optimistic Florida Conference United Methodists may experience Haiti for themselves, now that the Haiti/Florida Covenant has been signed.
The next step is developing the framework to put that covenant into action. full story>

The Rev. Fred Ball, pastor of Skycrest United Methodist Church in Clearwater, believes God has called his congregation to “connect people to Christ, make faithful disciples for Christ and share the love of God.”
That vision for ministry has positively affected the local Clearwater community for 50 years and is now expanding internationally with help from church members Ron and Loretta Davidson. full story>

LAKELAND — The Rev. Jeff Stiggins has been working in his new position as director of the conference’s Office of Congregational Transformation (OCT) for less than a month, but he says he has no doubt this is where he is supposed to be at this time in his ministry.
Stiggins succeeded the Rev. Kendall Taylor who retired from the position June 30. Before becoming OCT director Stiggins was serving as superintendent of the East Central District.
While he admits feeling uneasy about his new appointment, Stiggins says he is certain about the charge at hand. full story>

After several years of study, the Conference Capital Campaign has been reignited with a focus on raising funds for several areas of ministry deemed crucial to the Florida Conference.
The working theme of the campaign is “Together! Bringing Hope, Changing Lives: The Campaign for the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church,” emphasizing the church's connectional nature and focusing on life-changing ministries, according to Tom Wilkinson, vice president of development for the Florida United Methodist Foundation.
“Buildings and endowment funds are just some of the tools we use to do ministry — to bring hope and change lives,” Wilkinson said. full story>
