Basic health care that many Americans might take for granted is still years from arriving in Angola, a third-world country ravaged by a modern-day civil war.
A team of three women from Brazil traveled to Angola last November to change that and begin providing health education to some of that country's citizens. The trip was part of a partnership that began in 2003 between the Florida Conference and the East Angola Conference of The United Methodist Church. full story>

An e-Review Commentary By Rev. Kendall Taylor
The heart of the Florida Conference vision is making and nurturing disciples. In many ways it is being articulated in the lives of faithful Christians all over the state.
It is a good thing to stop from time to time to recognize and thank those who do it well. It is a reminder to the rest of us of what we, too, are called by Jesus to do. full story>

Local United Methodist churches can plant the seed for a relationship with Jesus Christ in the hearts and minds of young adults, but the college campus also offers a significant opportunity to meet that discipleship goal.
How to do that and other issues related to meeting the spiritual needs of students on today's college campuses will be the topic of discussion at the 13th Conference Table Feb. 25, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at University Carillon United Methodist Church in Oviedo. All clergy and laity are invited to attend the session, titled "Reaching the Collegiate Community." full story>

TAMPA — Conflict. It's a word many people, especially within the church, try to avoid, but the Florida Conference's 12th Conference Table Feb. 1 addressed it head on.
A group of about 80 people gathered at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, with another 136 people participating in real time via an Internet webcast, to tackle dealing with conflict in the church. full story>
